  1. Hector Hill (Yorkshire, UK)

Alan Breeze was a singer with Billy Cotton’s band well into the 1960s. Apart from straight singing he excelled at humorous rapid patter songs. He was afflicted with a stammer and there’s a tale told:

Breeze was summoned before the magistrates on a charge of ‘Driving without due care and attention’. He was physically unable to speak his words when being examined; and requested to give his evidence as patter. His request was granted; he gave his evidence; and he was acquitted.
