If you decide to revisit/rework this theme, may I suggest "Victor Vorzanger's Famous Dance Band" which recorded on the UK Broadcast label around 1927.  They're worth a listen.
(Blue Lagoon is playing as I type.  The vocalist sounds like Maurice Elwin.  Can't say I've heard of Herman Darewski and His Famous Melody Band.)
