Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.
Do you know who this adorable little boy is? He’s Wilfred Glenn, who would grow up to be the founder of the male close harmony vocal quartet The Revelers. He last had his own birthday segment in 2018 when we played three of his solo recordings. This time we have three more of his solo efforts, none of which has been played on the show before. There’s not time on the show to go into detail about his life and career, but if you would like to find out more about Wilfred Glenn, I urge you to visit Rivermont Records to check out the CD “A Little Bit of Heaven-Early Barbershop Quartet Recordings 1925-1928” by The Shannon Quartet, a predecessor to The Revelers. I’m proud to have written the liner notes for the CD and of course the transfers and restoration of the records by Bryan Wright is top notch. You can hear audio samples and order your copy of the CD by going to visiting:

Wilfred Glenn’s is not the only birthday we’re celebrating on this week’s edition of the show. You’ll hear all about Nat Osborne, Alex Hill and Rube Bloom and examples of their work. In the second segment we’ll consider that old saying “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we thing better–musical era.
ENJOY THE SHOW!
