Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.
So why in the world am I showing you a photograph of a grave marker? Well, this is the headstone for the Baxter family in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On this week’s show you’ll find out about the patriarch of the family, Alfred Baxter and his son, Howard Frances Baxter and their connection to radio. This is a special episode of Rapidly Rotating Records in which you’ll find out the history of a number of different radio stations from the 1920s. It doesn’t follow our normal “five-topic-three-records-in-each” format, and it has a lot of information along with ten records and I hope you’ll find it as fascinating as I do. So set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we thing better–musical era.
ENJOY THE SHOW!
