Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.
Do you know who this fellow is? He’s pianist, arranger and bandleader Fletcher Henderson. He’s been heard on the show numerous times over the years, but has never had his own birthday segment. Until tonight when you’ll hear a short biography and three Henderson records not played on the show before. And we have three more birthday salutes on this week’s show. Glenn Homer Long, Wilfred Arthur Charles Carter and Ernest Klapholz, along with Fletcher Henderson, were all born on December 18, albeit in different years. We don’t know when Gilbert Girard’s birthday is, but he’s getting his own segment on tonight’s show featuring records of his animal and instrument sounds. There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the audio player above to listen streaming online and/or download the show to listen at your convenience.
THANKS FOR LISTENING!
ENJOY THE SHOW!
