Harris, Briegel & Gilbert – RRR # 1190 20230507

Charles Kassell Harris

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Harris, Briegel & Gilbert in the title of this week’s show is not a high-powered Washington D. C. law firm but refers to the three birthday we’re celebrating on this week’s show. The “partner” show above is Charles Kassell Harris, a name which may not ring a bell, but whose most famous tune probably does. The others in the birthday spotlight this week are Joseph Gorge Gilbert and George F. Briegel. In other segments, we’ll hear from some mountaineers and commemorate Arbor Day with a couple of songs about trees. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.
