Welcome to "Rapidly Rotating Records," Glenn Robison's weekly, one hour radio program of "toe-tapping music from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and 30s", broadcast Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM over KISL FM 88.7 Avalon.
This week it's a shiny, brand-spankin' new edition of the show! We're going to celebrate the birthdays of Gene Austin, Clyde Doerr and Maceo Pinkard, but the first segment kicks off the show with some "kick" songs. Why? Well, to bring your attention to the "Treasures of Tin Pan Alley" campaign on kickstarter.com. "Treasures of Tin Pan Alley" is a 2 CD set of vocal recordings by Ian Whitcomb, and features over 50 songs from the 1910s, 20s and 30s, personally selected by Ian from long out of print LPs and CDs. All of the recordings are being remastered by Bryan Wright of Rivermont Records. I am proud to have been asked by Ian to write the liner notes for the set. But in order to make the project a reality, the kickstarter campaign must meet its goal. We have had a phenomenal start, but there's a bit of a way to go. This is a limited edition set and is not guaranteed to be available to the public beyond this offer. You can read all of the details by clicking on the link below:
