A “Good Enough” Edition of RRR April 9, 2023

Vernon Geyer at the Hammond A Electric Organ
Vernon Geyer at the Hammond A Electric Organ

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? He’s Vernon Geyer, an early proponent of the Hammond organ, invented by Laurens Hammond. It was patented in 1934 and went on sale the following year. You’ll hear Geyer play the Hammond A in the first segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records, a birthday salute to S. Bickley Reichner. In other segments, the gloves are comin’ off, we’ll go from good enough to too good, and have a human segment. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!
