A “Luckey” Edition of RRR # 1,256 August 11, 2024

Charles Luckeyth Roberts

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? He’s pianist and composer Charles Luckeyth Roberts, better known as “Luckey” Roberts. His is one of three birthdays on this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records, the others being Nat D. Ayer and Henry Burbig. We’ll also have an arboreal segment celebrating the regrowth of Lahaina’s banyan tree following last year’s tragic fires and a “child” segment. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.
