An “Express” Edition of Rapidly Rotating Records #1,276 December 22, 2024

Lulu Belle and Scotty

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this musical couple is? They were known as “The Sweethearts of Country Music” and were both regulars on the National Barn Dance radio show. You’ll find out their real names and hear one of their commercial recordings in the second segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. In other segments, we’ll hop aboard the express train, go to bed, deal with feelings of emptiness, spend some time down by the river, and celebrate Patti Pickens’ birthday. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.
