Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.
Do you know who this fellow is? He’s bandleader Jimmy Dorsey, shown here in 1943. It’s not his birthday, so why is he being featured on this week’s show? Well, in response to a request. You’ll find out the reason for the request in the final segment of the show. In other segments, we’ll do some burgling and some toddling, and get burned. In a new feature of the show called “Nothing in Common” we’ll play a set of rapidly rotating records which have…nothing in common! There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Click on the player above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.
