Do you know who this fellow is? He’s trombonist, bandleader and composer Arthur Pryor who is getting his own birthday salute in the second segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. You’ll hear Pryor’s most famous composition played by a Danish orchestra as well as two recordings by Pryor’s band. This photograph was taken between 1915 and 1920, years after the Pryor records we’ll be playing were made. We’ll also celebrate the birthdays of Grace Leboy, Green B. Adair and Harold Van Emburgh. In the final segments of the show we’ll apologize to Jerry White by playing one of his solo vocals, and note the passing of actor Louise Fletcher. There’s lots of great music and interesting information, so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and be magically transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era.
